Welcome to Niagara; a wonderful place to live and raise a family!

Becoming part of a new community raises a number of important questions. Some of the most important ones undoubtedly include where your children will attend school and how will their needs be met.

Welcome Centre Services

Welcome Centre staff will make sure that your child starts the year off right, and will assist your family with making a comfortable move to Niagara. Supports include a guide to public education in a variety of languages, a family meeting with a teacher to decide the best school for your child and the services of a Settlement Worker. The Settlement Worker will give your family information about community services and schools, and provide orientation materials in many languages.

Registering for School

Please call the Welcome Centre at 905-641-1550 to make an appointment for a visit. We encourage families to visit the Welcome Centre before registering at a school.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Program Information

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed to provide extra language support for students whose first language is not English. A student's home language is a valuable resource. The DSBN encourages students to continue to speak their home language as they are learning English.

To arrange your appointment, please call 905-641-1550 and ask for the Welcome Centre. We warmly welcome students of all cultures, faiths and languages.
