THE DIPLOMA MAY BE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
To recognize learning which takes place outside the classroom, the Ministry of Education allows the awarding of equivalency credits to Mature Students
(persons 18+ and out of school for at least one year). All applicants for equivalency standing must earn a minimum of the last four credits (these
credits must be at the Senior Level – Grade 11 or 12) after becoming a mature student, before a diploma will be issued. Assessments for diploma requirements
are completed on an individual basis, and require a transcript of your credits from your last school. Consideration may
be given for Work and Life Experience (maturity credits) and through Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). Further diploma requirements may need to be satisfied and will be
discussed after your assessment.
Please note that
many employers in the Niagara Region require applicants to have a high school
diploma to be considered for offers of employment.
