DSBN Statement Regarding Humboldt Tragedy
From April 9 – 13, the DSBN will lower flags at all schools and worksites in solidarity with the community in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
“At the DSBN, we all grieve for the Humboldt community and everyone affected by this tragic loss of life,” said Dale Robinson, Chair of the DSBN Board of Trustees. “We offer our deepest sympathies for their loss and our hope that, with love and time, healing and recovery are possible.”
“As Canadians, there are few things that unite us like hockey. Many of us have had the shared experience of sending our children to take part in athletics. As such, our hearts go out to those struggling to come to terms with this terrible loss. As an organization dedicated to the betterment of young people, we mourn alongside the community and wish them strength and resolve in this most difficult time,” said Warren Hoshizaki, DSBN Director of Education.
On Thursday, April 12, many schools will take part in jersey day. Students and staff are invited to wear the jersey of their choosing to honour those lost in the tragic accident, the Broncos, and the Humboldt community.
