What Does This Program Offer?

The Adult Literacy & Basic Skills program is a free service to help adults improve their employability, their readiness for post-secondary education or their independence. Participants in this program include individuals with learning disabilities, autism, developmental delays, or those that are hard of hearing. This program offers learning and training accommodations to suit all needs.

Who Should Take This Program?

You should take this program if you:

  • Have a learning disability, developmental disability, autism or are deaf/hard of hearing.
  • Want job training, OR
  • Want to prepare for post-secondary education, OR
  • Want to work towards independence and social skills, OR
  • feel more comfortable working in a small group

What Can I Do With This Program?

As part of the Adult Literacy & Basic Skills program, you’ll be able to learn:

  • reading, writing, language & math skills
  • social skills and self-improvement
  • job-specific skills & training
  • American Sign Language (ASL)
