DSBN Hosts 2012 OFSAA Curling Championships

2012 OFSAA Curling Championships Begin Wednesday 

On Wednesday, March 21, more than two hundred of the best curlers in Ontario will take to the ice in Niagara as they begin the chase for the 2012 OFSAA Curling Championship. The tournament will take place from March 21 - 24. Twenty boy’s teams and twenty girl’s teams will compete in the tournament.

“The District School Board of Niagara is very pleased to host this event,” says Rina Rode, Tournament Convenor. “All the student athletes have worked very hard to reach this tournament, and everyone in attendance will be treated to some very competitive and entertaining matches.”

Tournament draws will be held at the Welland Curling Club, 497 King Street, the St. Catharines Curling Club, 220 Grantham Avenue and the Grimsby Curling Club, 277 Kerman Avenue. 

The tournament banquet will be held on Wednesday, March 21, at the Holiday Inn and Suites on Ontario Street in St. Catharines. Canadian World Champion hurdler Perdita Felicien will be the keynote speaker at this year’s event. “We are very excited to have Perdita join us on Wednesday. Her message of perseverance and personal excellence will be relevant and inspiring for all the athletes and coaches in attendance,” adds Rode.

OFSAA is an organization comprised of student-athletes, teacher-coaches, teachers, principals and sport administrators, all committed to the philosophy of education through school sport.
