Students Put Their Creativity on Display at Off the Wall Art Show
Visitors to the DSBN Education Centre are being treated to some very interesting, thought provoking and creative artwork during the annual “Off the Wall” art show. The show, which takes place from February 14 to March 20, gives students from grades 9 -11 an opportunity to put their paintings, pictures, drawings, sculptures and other creations on display.
"This show is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their skill and creativity in the medium of their choosing," says DSBN Arts Consultant Gerda Klassen. “Visual Art also involves a great deal of risk taking and social conscience, and the Off the Wall show provides an encouraging and supportive environment for students to explore their creative sides.”
The event is not adjudicated, however a prize is awarded for the most “Off the Wall” piece of artwork. This year’s winner was a mixed media piece called "You're all Negative Nancy’s" by A.N. Myer student Sydnay Finlay.
Visitors are encouraged to attend the free show at the DSBN Education Centre daily from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Education Centre is located at 191 Carlton Street in St. Catharines.
