Students Show Business Acumen at Case Study Competition

Students from high schools across the DSBN will be sitting down at their corporate boardroom in Niagara-on-the-Lake to hammer out solutions to problems that have plagued businesses over the years. The second annual DSBN Case Study Competition is being held at School Support Services on Niagara Stone Road on May 24.

Competing in teams of two, students in Grade 9 – 12 will be presented with a business scenario that they have to analyze and develop a solution for. Topics could cover anything from financial analysis to marketing and corporate communications. Students will present their solutions to the judges and the winning teams will be chosen based on their analysis, plan and presentation.

During the lunch period, students will also have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers in the local business community. “We’re very pleased to have the support of our business partners in Niagara. Their expertise will help students understand the realities of the workplace and the skills that employers look for,” says Andrea Wiggins, Business Department Head at A.N. Myer.

Participating schools include: A.N. Myer, E.L. Crossley, Eden, Grimsby, Governor Simcoe, Laura Secord, Stamford Collegiate, Sir Winston Churchill and Westlane.
