Educators, Business Leaders Connect at National Technology Conference

New and emerging technologies are transforming the way students learn and the way educators teach. Beginning on Monday, May 6, attendees will have an opportunity to see and experience the next generation of innovative gadgets and learning software at Connect 2013: Canada’s National Learning and Technology Conference. The conference is a collaboration between the DSBN and its partners in the business and educational sectors.

“The goal of the conference is to explore how technology can be used to enhance teaching and learning,” said Dino Miele, DSBN Chief Information Officer. Conference participants will take part in presentations, hands on workshops, interactive seminars and network with educators, businesses and technology experts from across Canada.

“Students use technology to learn every day and it is important for our schools to reflect that reality inside the classroom,” said Warren Hoshizaki, DSBN Director of Education. “When schools engage with current and emerging technologies, they support students in developing the critical thinking skills necessary in today’s world.”

The event will feature over 100 vendor booths and 23 aspiring entrepreneurs will be featured in what’s being called “Start-Up Alley”. Additionally, the entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their products and services to a panel of experts during a special Dragon’s Den themed event on Tuesday, May 7.
