An Evening to Support Children’s
Mental Health
Talking about
children’s mental health isn’t always easy, but it is certainly a conversation
worth having. On Wednesday, May 14, Dr. Stan Kutcher, an internationally
recognized expert in the area of child and adolescent mental health, will be
speaking to parents and caregivers in the Garden City. Held at St. Catharines
Collegiate on Catherine Street, the event is free for the community to attend.
“Dr. Kutcher’s
presentation will help equip parents and caregivers with strategies to support
their children so they are better able to build strong personal relationships,
focus on their learning and appropriately deal with life’s challenges,” says
Tracy Sacco, DSBN Student Achievement Leader.
Done in a
friendly and interactive style, the presentation will provide attendees with an
understanding of the issues around mental health and offer coping strategies.
Dr. Kutcher
was a founding member of the Canadian Association for Mood and Anxiety
Treatment, the Advisory Board for the Institute of Neuroscience, Mental Health
and Addictions (Canadian Institutes of Health Research), the Science Advisory
Committee of NeuroScience Canada, and the Canadian Coalition for Global Health
Research. He has served on the Board of the Canadian Society for International
Health; and the Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation and the Mental Health
Commission of Canada's Child and Youth Advisory Panel.
