DSBN Reaches Agreement with Town for Former NDSS Property

The District School Board of Niagara has reached an agreement to sell 26 acres of property to the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Town is purchasing the site, located at 1875 Niagara Stone Road, for its full appraised value of $1.67 million dollars.

“We’re very pleased to have reached an agreement with the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake,” said Sue Barnett, Chair of the DSBN Board of Trustees. “We believe it’s in everyone’s best interests that this property remains with the Town to ensure its future use is aligned with the needs of the community.”

“Furthering our Board’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, we are similarly pleased to have negotiated an agreement for fair market value for this property,” added Barnett.

The property housed the former Niagara District Secondary School.  After the school’s closing, the site was used as a Resource Centre for DSBN curriculum consultants and support staff.

The sale will officially close on February 27, 2015.
