DSBN Students Own the Podium at Summer Games

Sep 12, 2017

It was certainly a summer to remember for Eastdale’s Trinity Tutti and Beamsville District’s Autumn Bigger.

Trinity took home two gold medals from the Commonwealth Youth Games, held in the Bahamas. She earned her first in shot put, setting a world record for women under 18 in the process. Her throw of 17.82 metres was nearly a full metre farther than the second place finisher. Trinity also won gold in the discus throw with a distance of 49.57 metres.

Over 1,300 athletes from 70 nations and territories took part in the games.

Beamsville’s Autumn Bigger stayed within our national borders, travelling to Winnipeg to compete in the Canada Games. Autumn earned a silver medal in the female high jump for team Ontario.

Congratulations to both Autumn and Trinity for representing themselves, and their schools, with pride.
