DSBN launches online learning website for students

Mar 27, 2020

March 27, 2020 – The District School Board of Niagara has launched a one-stop online learning website for Niagara students and families to access education from home.

Learn from Home offers learning resources compiled by DSBN so students and their families can continue learning while schools remain closed during the COVID-19 situation. The site is organized by grade, subject and area of interest, with everything from English, Science, Math, French, Arts and more.

Learn from Home resources include:

  • Elementary (K-8)
  • Secondary (9-12)
  • Special Education
  • Mental Health and Well-Being support
  • Supplementary links to other credible, online learning
  • Direct link to the Ministry of Education’s Learn at Home website

Launching Learn from Home is a first step in getting Niagara students and families access to local learning as we navigate this unprecedented time. Each week, additional resources will be added to the website.

We know that students and teachers are missing the face-to-face environment at school. Phase Two of DSBN’s Learn from Home plan includes teacher-led instruction, where students will have online learning directly with their teacher. All teachers have been asked to call their students’ families on Monday, March 30.

Understanding that not every family has access to a computer or the internet, the DSBN is working on ways to provide families with devices and online access. Families have been informed by their schools that they should contact their school principal if they need support.

All of the learning resources provided have been reviewed and verified by DSBN educators. It’s important to be advised that Learn from Home is the only validated learning website being offered from DSBN during the school closure.
