What is an Automotive Service Technician?

An Automotive Service Technician performs preventative maintenance, diagnoses problems and repairs vehicle systems in cars and light trucks.

What will I be learning?

In this project, you will be building and modifying an air powered drag racer. Assemble the parts, connect the battery and watch your vehicle race across the floor! Plan and build modifications for your racer and see how fast it can go.

You can also try your hand at some of the jobs an Automotive Service Technician would do, like using your new tire pressure gauge to measure the tire pressure in a car, or use your tread depth gauge to measure the tread wear in the tires. Snap a picture or short video of your completed racer and a picture of the activity sheet to be entered to win exciting prizes. When you’re all done, the tools and drag racer are yours to keep.
