What Does This Program Offer?

The Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) program is a provincially funded program that helps newcomers to Canada improve their English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will work in small group settings to gain confidence in their English skills.

Who Should Take This Program?

You should take this program if you:

  • Over the age of 19.
  • New to Canada (Must be Permanent Resident / Refugee / Temporary Foreign Worker / VISA holder)
  • Interested in improving your English skills

What Can I Do With This Program?

With the Adult ESL program, you’ll be able to:

  • Improve your general English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills
  • Learn about Canadian culture and the local community
  • Gain confidence in your workplace
  • Improve your job opportunities
  • Gain English proficiency to work towards enrolling in high school credit courses, post-secondary education and citizenship

Is there a cost?

There is no fee to:

  • Landed Immigrants,
  • Refugee Claimants,
  • Convention Refugees,
  • Canadian Citizens
  • Temporary foreign workers who hold
    • Approval in principal document for permanent resident status
    • Permanent resident visa

When Are Classes Available?

Intake is continuous. Students are able to join classes anytime throughout the year!

We offer morning and afternoon classes Monday-Friday. Learners can choose to study half-day or full-day.
