The Zip Line Challenge

Project Length:  1/2 day to start (see below)

Grade Level: 5-8

School Requirements:  Provide a work area such as Learning Commons or                  .                                        Classroom.

Materials and Technology:  All materials and technology provided by DSBN Makers

Subject Areas: Math, Art, Science, Design

Project Description:  Use gears and pulleys to design and build a zip line vehicle to help solve real world problems.  The DSBN Makers will start this project as a co teaching activity.  We will supply all required equipment and consumables.  The first 1/2 day if spent exploring circuits, electricity, gears and pulleys, and the problems parameters.  The teacher will continue with the project for another 5-6 hours.  Teacher are free to schedule this time as their timetable permits.  Dsbn Makers can return for the culminating testing of the zip line devices.
